Review: Voyeur by Fiona Cole @authorfionacole

Voyeur by Fiona Cole
Series: Voyeur #1
Publication date: April 26th, 2018
Pages: 312

Synopsis (according to Goodreads):
I didn't know she was my student the first time I paid to watch her at Voyeur.

Once she walked into my classroom, another smiling college freshman, I knew I should stop going. Stop watching.

But I couldn't do it. Everything about her makes me want more, and once I realize she wants me too, the temptation becomes irresistible.

The worst part is that she has no idea her professor is the one watching behind the glass.

I just have to hope that once she finds out the truth, she wants the same things I do. Because now that I've seen all of her, I can't look away.

Stand-alone.

Review:
I feel like I am starting to serious deplete the selection of twisted romance books offered on Kindle Unlimited. I have read quite a few recently and it seems that finding any others that are similar to help with my book hangovers is becoming a daunting task. But, of course, it's not impossible... I found this gem as a recommended book for another book I read. Who doesn't love a book about sexy male professors and the students they have to try to resist? Add to that a club that seems to cater to voyeurs. That was a new spin on things that I was curious enough to delve into.

Oaklyn was not expecting to be struggling with her finances when she started college. She had applied and accepted as many scholarships as she could which would have kept her comfortable. But her parents took the scholarship money for themselves leaving Oaklyn to scramble to pay her tuition. Her friend offered her a way out by recommending her uncle's club, Voyeur. Oaklyn, desperate and in need of cash, applied and was accepted. Now she must find a way to overcome her fears of being watched to put on the best show she can. It's not long before the appeal of performing for an anonymous person behind the glass because a job she actually enjoys. As she starts classes her Astronomy professor can't seem to take his eyes off her. It's not long before she realizes he is a client at her work and may have been a client of hers personally. The sparks between the two fly and she starts to see her professor as more than his occupation and his fascination with watching her. There is something dark within him that she longs to find out.

Callum started watching Oaklyn not knowing she was his student. Once he found out he was determined not to watch her ever again at the club. But soon he couldn't help himself. When she found out he was a patron of her work he expected her to be disgusted and drop his class immediately. What he didn't expect was for his bountiful attraction to be returned. But Callum has issues that Oaklyn couldn't begin to understand. Can she help him face down his demons or will be once again lose a woman he cares about over his past?

I like Oaklyn. She seemed like a determined firecracker who tended to love with her whole heart. She was very patient with Callum and understanding. She was willing to go slow with him or at his own pace. She had a big heart.

Callum, on the other hand, was someone I would be severely cautious around. One, he has extreme jealousy issues which would cause him to drink heavily anytime Oaklyn went to work. And two, he was slightly obsessed with the club. If this were reality, I would question whether he could quit the club even after winning the girl. He was so addicted to the club that he couldn't even stay away to save his job. You can argue that it was because he was obsessed with Oaklyn, and in a fictional world sure that could be true; but in the real world, sex addictions even in something like voyeurism is hard to just up and quit. Even if you have everything you ever wanted at home.

I like the couple together but it did read very romance novel and not a lot of reality attached to it. I sometimes prefer having a book that tackles the hardships of reality and doesn't just romanticize them into something less than what would actually happen. But I did enjoy the book. The story was interesting and a vastly different take on the obvious professor/student taboo romance subject.

Voyeur is worth watching out for.
