I'm the girl from the ghetto with nothing to offer and as defiant as they come.

They say it doesn't matter, that I'm one of them now, and nothing could ever change that. Not even me, should I dare try.

They underestimate how far I'll go to protect them.

Review:
Sometimes I truly love cliffhangers. In the world where romance series are usually broken up by individual love interests between characters, this one followed a single couple throughout the creation of the world the author wanted to portray. I know there are books after this trilogy that will be the other characters attempting to find their happily ever after. But it's good that Meagan Brandy decided to make sure her world, as dynamic and different as it is, is well plotted out before she starts moving into more matchmaking for the Brayshaws. This second book worried me. The end of the first book did not bode well for my Raven and I really wish I could have reached through the book and stopped the direction the cliffhanger was taking things.

Raven has made the decision to leave her boys behind and romantically interlock herself with their enemy. What else is she to do when the blackmail that she is dealing with could cause serious problems for at least one, if not all, of her Brayshaw boys. Despite the turmoil and betrayal Royce, Captain, and especially Maddoc feel with her diverting to the other side, she knows that she has no other choice... or does she? Eventually the boys start to piece together the reason for her actions and start to take strides to rectifying it. The 4 are constantly encountering hurdles that they have to navigate to maintain control of their town and the respect they are owed. Towards the end Raven is once more faced with a choice of romantically entangling herself with another person that is not her beau, Maddoc. Will she agree to leave Maddoc forever for another or risk everything by trying to keep him?

This installment in the series really infuriated me. One, Raven was, once more, trying to fix things on her own instead of trying to lean on the people that mean most to her. I understand why a martyr does what they do, but I will never understand their need to keep their sacrifices to themselves. At least let your loved ones know why you have made that decision so that they can accept it or try to help you fix it. I love my girl, Raven, to death but having to take care of herself throughout her life has seriously caused her to not be able to function socially. She thinks everything is on her shoulders and that no one could possibly want nor be able to help her out of it.

I also had a really hard time with the fact that Royce was so quick to believe the worst of Raven. She has never lied or cheated him out of anything and yet he has so little faith in her loyalty. Maddoc and Captain both questioned her motives knowing that something deeper was going on. Royce wrote her off as the daughter of a whore that can't be trusted from the moment things went sideways. Royce was my second favorite of the boys but after that, he was seriously downgraded to the point where I even liked Bass better than him. However, the author made him that way for a reason. She developed him to have those kind of trust issues and even had the boys discuss it so the reader knew there was a reason for it. I just didn't like it in the slightest.

Trouble at Brayshaw High is the continued installment in a series of drama, love, and unbreakable loyalty.
