Review:
The cover of this book looked so familiar I could have sworn I had already read it. I flipped through Amazon with nary a glance in this book's direction as I figured "been there, done that". I started reading it as my OCD became too much to ignore and as I couldn't remember any strong details of the book so a reread wouldn't be a bad idea.  Turns out I had neither been there or done that.

Cassie knew of Jack. She knew he was the boy who slept around and never spent more than one night with a woman before he discarded her for another. She was never going to be a notch on anyone's belt, so when Jack started trying to woo her she could only scoff at his antics and tell him the only way he can touch her is by paying $.50 a touch. Eventually Cassie's immunity to Jack wore thin and the moment he emptied a sack of quarters over the table on their first date, she knew things with Jack had the potential to be that sort of epic romance she always hoped she'd find.

Jack moved from woman to woman without any real need for commitment. He was destined to be a professional baseball player so why form attachments? Then he sees Cassie at a party and the world stands still. This girl, this witty woman, with her resistance to all his normal Casanova moves intrigues him and makes him wonder if there is more to his life than just baseball.

Jack and Cassie are put through the ringer more times than they can count. Both of them can't seem to get out of their own ways. Jack is convinced he's destined to mess up at every turn and so accepts it as an inevitability and Cassie doesn't know anyone who has ever kept a promise to her. Both of them come together despite their damaged souls to try to forge a forever love. But can they manage to work through their issues and find solace in the arms of each other or are they meant to lose the love of their lives by getting in their own way?

There was SO much in this book that its hard to even start to describe what I loved and what I could have done without. Jack was a tool most of this book. I was so fed up with him I wanted to slap him for Cassie (but, of course, Cassie is too good for that). Cassie is my dream heroine despite her inability to trust anyone or anything. Honestly there was a part in this book where I had no idea how the two characters would come together. I had to go back and read the synopsis to see if this was all a prelude to one of them finding their REAL soulmate. When all I saw were Cassie and Jack I powered through wondering how in the hell the author was going to tie everything together.

The Perfect Game had my chest tight with tears, my fists shaking in rage, and my heart souring with swoons; the rollercoaster is real in this book.
