Excerpt
The Capital that was once a glorious sight to behold was no more. It laid in destruction and agony. The cries of children filled the restless skies as deformed creatures began to defile the lands. Tormented souls that were meant to remain banished wandered out in the open.
The demons cut through all; old, young, strong, or weak. Nothing halted them from executing their God's justice as they began to initiate their plans of erasing mankind and starting the world anew.
Griffyn was running far away from the Capital. By some miracles, he had escaped with the sword that the Red Hand entrusted him with, the sword that harbored the only thing that could pose a threat to the Gods that descended: The Masamune.
Tears were running down on his cheeks as he flew past the terrified citizens. Those who stood their grounds and tried to fight for their right to live were being left for slaughter. Yet Griffyn did not wait, he did not fight back.
"Forgive me, forgive me," he repeated in agony as he rushed outside the keep and made his way through the courtyard. The demons that tore the place down seemed to ignore him as they had their jaws full of flesh. Griffyn ran and did not look back, the horrors trapped in his mind.
Within minutes, he was outside the once proud city that boosted its invulnerability. He paused as archers readied their arrows at him. Just outside, some of the remaining forces of the late King had rallied up and built a few barricades to keep the monsters at bay.
"Stop!" he shouted. "What are you all doing?"
"Hold your fire!" a voice commanded as he emerged into the light of the struggling sun. Squirmy eyebrows sat on a square face beneath a head of shiny golden hair. His eyes were a piercing light blue as he met Griffyn's gaze.
"Wilson?" Griffyn mumbled.
"What in God's name happened inside? What did you all do?" Wilson asked as he grabbed him by the shirt and pushed him around.
"Careful who you plead to. Gods are all out of mercy."

About the Author:
M.G. Darwish is an award nominated author who writes dark, twisted and action-packed fiction. He tries his best not to base his characters on anyone he knows in real life to avoid that extra weird conversation about how they were brutalized and killed in the book. Oh and he's terrified of a penguin uprising more than ghosts and demons.
He is best known for his Secret of the Moonlight which was featured on Wattpad.
