Synopsis:
Shel is tired of dating men who don't appreciate her rock and roll wardrobe or her tomboy tendencies. She's swearing off dating, and she is not going to give another moment's thought to the hot single dad next door. She is not going to waste a single moment dwelling on his muscles or his eyes or the way he plays with his adorable six-year-old daughter.
Max has made mistakes, he's been a terrible father, and he has no problem spending the rest of his life atoning by being the best, most devoted parent he can possibly be. A devoted father does not have wicked thoughts about his sexy neighbor, and he most certainly does not consider an actual relationship.
Except, he can't stop thinking about Shel, and he's not sure what to do about it.

Meet the Characters of How to Nail a Stud
Shelley Tinsdale -- Shel has a pixie cut and tattoos, and she's almost always wearing her motorcycle boots. She's a musician, who can play just about every instrument ever invented, but can't sing worth a darn. Her band plays in local clubs on the weekends and she's a middle school music teacher during the week. She's also the daughter of two of the most famous rock stars in the world, but she prefers not to talk about that.
Max Mason -- Max is an ex-con and a single dad. His mistakes took him away from his infant daughter when he was sent to jail for sixteen months. After he got out, though, he didn't return to his daughter, who was under the care of his mother and his sister, because he didn't want to go home until he had a job that would support his daughter. He wanted to be able to give her everything to make up for abandoning her. She was four years old when he finally returned to her and it just took a few minutes in her presence for him to decide he'd never leave her again, no matter what. At the time the book starts, Max has been a devoted father to his daughter for two years. He's a construction foreman and he's happy with the life he's built. He won't do anything to risk upsetting the careful balance, especially not dating his rock and roll neighbor, Shel.
Addy Mason -- Max's six-year-old daughter has blonde curls and big, green eyes. She's a little girl who knows what she wants. Mostly, she wants to spend as much time as possible with Shel's goofy St. Bernard.
Maureen Mason -- Maureen is Max's mother and she lives with Max and Addy. She took care of Addy when Max wasn't there and is the one constant in the little girl's life. Maureen has experienced great romance herself and still mourns her deceased husband. She's a strong, loving grandmother and mother.
TJ -- The villain in the story, TJ is Shel's ex-boyfriend. He wants to be a famous guitarist and vocalist. He sees Shel as the way to make his dream come true, but only a magician could make the talent-less TJ a star. When Shel can't help him, TJ threatens to go to the paparazzi and tell them where to find her, a move that will upend Shel's quiet life.
