Review:
I recently decided to get Kindle Unlimited again as a way to get a book I was desperately wanting to read without having to buy it without knowing if I'd like it or not. Kindle Unlimited is the best way to try out several new books and see if they are up to par with what you expect of them. It is also a safe way to try indie books without buyers remorse. I often read books off Kindle Unlimited and then purchase a physical copy so I can share it with my other book lovers. I went on a bit of a book bender and this was one of the books I picked up.

Scarlett is the stereotypical southern belle complete with an aversion to swearing, a standing engagement to teach at Sunday school every week, and a virginal innocence the exudes from every one of her pores. She has made it her mission to not give her small Texan town anything to gossip about after her unscrupulous mother ruined any semblance of a normal life with her reputation and subsequent abandonment of her daughter. The one thing that would ruin Scarlett's attempts to keep the gossip-mongers at bay would be running off and getting hitched to a foul-mouthed bad boy rock star on her first true alcohol bender. But when she makes up the next morning with her white granny panties missing, a gold band on a very important finger, and a snoring sex god beside her she suspects her good girl reputation was going to be shaken to the core. So she ran. She ran, leaving her panties behind in a twisted version of Cinderella for her prince husband to find and use to track his flighty wife down once more.

Gavin had much the same reaction as Scarlett to the realization he was married. He figured it was a horrible mistake that should be quickly fixed with the help of his swarthy lawyer friend. But unlike Scarlett, Gavin's reputation leaves a lot to be desired and a drunken marriage could cause even more damage. But can he convince his wife to keep their marriage intact for a bit longer? The infuriating redhead was going to make his life hell during that time but maybe it'd be worth it. Little did he know that with time came an understanding of just how sweet his little lady truly was. Would either of them be able to walk away after all this unscathed? Add to that a child Gavin never knew he had and this makes for a very precarious situation.

I am not a huge fan of protagonists who are selfless to the detriment of their own well-being. Scarlett would move heaven and Earth for the people she loved. She'd suffer the slings and arrows and not regret a moment of it. I wanted to wrap her in bubble wrap and pack her away somewhere safe where nothing could harm her. She won my heart easily to the point where when Gavin was short or cruel with her I wished to jump through the pages and sock him one.

Don't get me wrong. I loved Gavin as well. He was there for Scarlett every step of the way. He consoled her when the media twisted her into some desperate harlot who tricked their token rock star heartthrob into marriage. It was the defining moment for me with Gavin. He immediately saved her from the fall out that would come in her small town and surrounded her with the love and affection she needed. He was more than just the selfish playboy he was first thought to be.

Running From A Rock Star is a sweet tale of redemption and the lengths one will go for love.
