Synopsis:
First I bled. Then I fought. Now, it's war.

Fate turned on me, chewed me up and spat me out. I've been dragged down into the depths of hell until my lungs are burning and the light of day has turned blood red.

But I'm still breathing.

Fate turned on them, as well. The devil princes who rule this city, and who dare try and rule me. I might not have their muscle or brutality, but I possess the ultimate power.

Their hearts.

Why settle for pieces of shattered souls when I can have everything? I'm the Princess of Coldlake, and when war is declared and the battle lines are drawn, this city is going to burn.

This city will be ours.

Review:
Chiara has failed in her mission to murder her father and been shot by her ex-fiancΓ© when she comes awake in the back of a car with her three lovers. Before she can mourn the loss of her nerve in her bloodthirsty desires to rid the world of her mother's murderer the same man who shot her slides in beside her. It turns out he was never an outcast from his friends. This was all some ploy to win over the mayor that had gone horribly wrong when they found out how much they desired Chiara. Now that the group is complete once more they have to figure out who the Black Orchid Murderer is that stole the lives of the four men's sisters while avoiding being captured by the whole city hunting them down for the bounty her father set on their heads.

Chiara takes the time between plotting and scheming to get to know her men more. Especially with the hard won Lorenzo. She crawls under his skin and starts to learn that the psychopathic persona was well earned in the things he's seen and done. But underneath that is someone who will protect Chiara with his life without even hesitating. He has a cantankerous way of handling her but she doesn't seem to mind after a while.

Can the five of them, with their new hard-won bonds, find a serial killer, stop Chiara's father, and save their city?

Lorenzo really grew on me in this book. It was easy to see why he was the way he was and how his quick temper and violence was a defense mechanism against anyone getting too close to him again. He had already lost the most important person in his life and didn't want to risk losing another. I emphasized with him and he went from being my least favorite of the men to my all-time favorite. I loved the interactions between him and Chiara. A lot of them were even more comical than when Vinicius is around (who is definitely the comic relief).

I did like that the plot was so twisted that even I had a hard time following it. It's not often that I find books that still catch me off guard. I usually can predict what is going to happen next and plot out the course of series fairly accurately. But this one... definitely didn't see any of it coming. But we need to discuss these cliffhangers, Ms. Vincent! If the series wasn't complete I'd be crying.

This was the perfect second installment to a fabulous series. It delved deeper into the bonds of the characters and fleshed out the plot with twists and turns nobody would expect.
