Book Blitz with Excerpt + Teasers + Giveaway: Anubis by Adrienne Wilder @Adrienne_Wilder @XpressoTours

Anubis by Adrienne Wilder
Series: Wolves Incarnate #2
Publication date: June 13th, 2022

Synopsis:
It was supposed to be over: The Utah Facility discovered, New World Genetics dismantled, and the people hunting Luca, dead.

Finally, Nox and Luca could start their life together.

Then strangers, who call themselves Varu, come to Luca for help.

They call him Cana and claim he's the only one who can bring back their wolves.

The Varu tell Luca and Nox how a people called Mah are responsible for the atrocities of the Utah facility, unearthing the ichor and infecting Nox with the Anubis.

How the creature will consume Nox's mind.

How he will become the monster.

Then it will destroy Luca.

But they can stop that from happening if Nox is willing to risk death by letting them purge him of the ichor.

As far as Nox is concerned, it's a small price to pay to keep Luca safe.

Luca can't convince Nox that the Anubis isn't the mindless entity the Varu claim it to be, that it's not a danger to him or anyone else.

When Nox won't listen to reason, Luca decides to use the Anubis to help him save the man he loves.

After all, Luca is Nox's Alpha.

And the Anubis is really Luca's wolf to call.

A knock seized Luca's attention.

"You okay in there?" Nox's deep voice muted the hush of the water against the stained tile walls.

"Yeah, yeah, I'm... fine." Luca shut off the water and went to open the shower door.

It refused to budge. He jiggled it like he had to get it open the first time, but from the inside, he couldn't manipulate it back onto the bent track.

"You sure."

"Yes, I'm..." Luca cursed. "The door's stuck."

"The bathroom door?"

"No, the shower--" Luca grabbed the rail and jerked the sliding door enough to pop it completely over the tracks and wedge the edged groove on the opposite side where it pinched nicely against the other half of the sliding door, cementing them both in place.

Just great.

At least Nox didn't come bursting in to save the day.

No, because Luca had made it perfectly clear he was not a wilting violet.

He tugged at the door, and it didn't budge.

Nope. Luca Suarez didn't need protection from the world, but apparently, he needed protection from a fucking shower door.

Talk about humiliating.

"Luca?"

"Yeah." He dropped his forehead against the frosted glass.

"You sure you're okay?"

He had to know. maybe not the exact circumstance, but Nox could feel Luca just as much as Luca could feel him. Sometimes the emotions were so strong they were practically words.

Luca bet humiliation sounded like a song in a cheesy musical.

"No..."

The bathroom door opened, and Nox walked over. His massive form was nothing but a blur behind the shower glass. "Step back in case the glass breaks."

Luca did.

The shower door popped, and the metal railing earned another dent as the groove on the bottom of the door was forced back onto the tracks.

Nox pushed the door aside with a grinding protest.

He picked the towel off the sink and handed it to Luca.

"Thanks." Luca wrapped it around his waist.

"I guess I should have showered with you."

"Yeah, then we would have a broken door rather than a stuck one. At least this way, it still works."

Nox frowned. "Why would it have broken?"

"Because the first time you shoved me up against the frame, it would have broken and the glass would have shattered."

Pink tinged Nox's cheeks. "Sorry."

"Why are you sorry? You didn't do anything."

"No, but you're right. I would have."

And Luca never wanted Nox's desire for him to change. Nox stepped closer, and the heat of his body threatened to suffocate Luca.

It was a feeling Luca cherished because Nox didn't have to share it with him.

His eye darkened, and Luca knew Nox heard the thought.

"You're wrong. I have to share it." Nox ran his thumb down Luca's cheek.

"Why?"

"Because without you, the world is meaningless."

Luca put a hand on Nox's chest. "You ever consider writing poetry. I think you'd be great at it."

Nox held Luca's hand over his heart. "I'd rather spend my time doing things that give me something to write about."

Luca preferred that, too.

I am a writer of contemporary and speculative fiction and artist of all things monsters. I live to create new worlds and the people in them. Several of my books have been best sellers both nationally and internationally. I have also been a finalist in the LAMDA awards, the "Oscars" of gay literary works.

I do my best to write original stories with powerful characters and emotion as well as a fast paced plot. My goal isn't just to deliver a good story but to take the reader into the story and let them experience the characters as if they are right there with them.

While almost all my books have a romantic element, I will be the first to admit, they are not traditional romance. In fact, I'd like to think there is nothing traditional about them. And the stories I paint are done so way outside the lines of traditional genres.

One of my favorite things to do as a writer is push the boundaries of what makes a story and to deliver the unexpected and maybe even change the perspective of the reader.

My characters are more often than not, beautifully flawed, not always the good guy, and make mistakes. Their stories will take dark turns which, in the end, make the light at the end of the tunnel all the more brighter.

If you're looking for something different, exciting, and unique, my books are for you.
