What are your top 10 favorite books/authors?
My favorite authors are James Patterson, John Sandford, JD Robb, Dean Koontz, Janet Evanovich, Jennifer Worrell, C.N. Crawford, Christine Feehan, Sherrilyn Kenyon, and Pamela Humphreys

What book do you think everyone should read?
Broken Toys, of course... ;p

How long have you been writing?
All my life? I have been a bookworm for as long as I can remember, longer actually. My dad used to tell a story of me scaring him when I was two. He walked into the living room and I was sitting in his recliner with my favorite book reading it aloud. He said he stood and watched and I was turning the pages at the correct spots. He thought he had a superbaby on his hands--until he realized I was holding the book upside down. I've always loved books. I think what encouraged me to actually write stories with a substitute teacher I had in elementary school. She read one of my assignments and wrote the most encouraging notes on it.

I recently found an old notebook that had short stories I had written when I was eleven. I had a few short stories published when I was in high school and more throughout my early adult years.

As I got older, and life got rougher, I used books to escape from a not-too-happy reality. It helped me through some rotten patches and I want to be able to give that escape to someone else. I've always been drawn to thrillers and mysteries in my reading. They always say write what you know so... I write thrillers and mysteries mostly and they are a bit dark in places, but I like to give my readers the light at the end of the tunnel endings.

Do the characters all come to you at the same time or do some of them come to you as you write?
Can I just say yes? Some of them show up together. Others arrive later on their own blowing through the front door like a Category 5 hurricane.

What kind of research do you do before you begin writing a book?
I love research and at the same time, I cheat a little. Darlin' is a Texas Lawman so I pick his brain--a lot. He is my technical advisor and catches my procedural mistakes, my gun mistakes, etc. I was an EMT for years so I refer back to some of my old cases and school books for injuries, illnesses, etc. I really do enjoy researching and my favorite word is WHY. I like to dig deep. I will ask why and when I find that answer I ask why about that answer and continue until I am five layers deep into the whys. Unfortunately, sometimes I dig so deep that I suffer from analysis paralysis. Research becomes an excuse to not actually write.

Do you see writing as a career?
Yes, I do. I know it's going to take a ton of work and that I have a lot to learn but in addition to writing novels, I make fairly decent money writing for local newspapers. I've also dabbled a bit in Medium.

Do you read yourself and if so what is your favorite genre?
I read anything I can get my grubby little paws on. I love thrillers, mysteries, romance, westerns, paranormal... you name it, I read it. My favorite is whatever will sweep me away and make me forget the real world. I don't care what genre it is if I am in love with the characters.

Do you prefer to write in silence or with noise? Why?
Mother of five, grandmother of eight--what is this thing you speak of? This silence? LOL

Do you write one book at a time or do you have several going at a time?
Several at a time.

If you could have been the author of any book ever written, which book would you choose?
The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon

Pen or type writer or computer?
Yes, all of the above plus number two super sharp pencils, and my iPhone too. I've been known to use markers, colored pencils, crayons, lipstick, eyeliner... you name it. One time I used the charcoaled end of a stick from our campfire. I keep bath crayons I swiped from the younger grandkids in the shower so when an idea strikes I can just scribble it on the shower wall and take a photo of it with my cell phone when I'm done with my shower. Cleans off easily and I no longer lose those "brilliant" ideas that always hit when my hair is full of shampoo.

A sixth-generation Texan with Scottish roots, Glenda Thompson can 'bless your heart' with the best of them. As a former emergency medical technician married to a south Texas Lawman, she's used insider information from both their careers as inspiration to build her Broken world of Texas Rangers with hidden pasts and dark secrets. When she's not busy embarrassing her children or grandchildren by dancing in the middle of a country road during a rainstorm, she can be found huddled in her writing cave with her law enforcement technical adviser/husband working on another story in her Broken universe.
